Mako Foundation is committed to ensuring that children in Ethiopia and the United States have access to education. We work to remove barriers to education, such as poverty, lack of resources, and remote locations, by collaborating with local communities and organizations to establish schools and learning centers. In Ethiopia, we have successfully built schools serving grades 1-4, giving students the opportunity to receive a solid educational foundation. With over 9 years of experience in Ethiopia, we have helped hundreds of children aged 4-15, a large majority of which are orphans or half orphans. Our vision is to continue providing the tools these children need to break the cycle of poverty and expand our services to include medical and general health education for women, elders, and others in need.
We provide essential educational resources, such as textbooks, school supplies, and technology, to underprivileged schools and students in Ethiopia and the United States. Our aim is to create an equitable learning environment where all students have the tools they need to succeed. We work closely with local communities to assess their needs and ensure that resources are allocated effectively.
Scholarships and Financial Aid: Currently, Mako Foundation offers scholarships and financial aid to talented and deserving students in Ethiopia who face financial challenges. Our scholarship program supports students from primary school to higher education, allowing them to pursue their academic dreams without the burden of financial stress. While we do not yet have the funding to offer scholarships and financial aid to youth in the United States, it is our goal to expand our support in the future.
We believe that mentorship and career guidance are essential components of a well-rounded education. Our mentorship program connects students with professionals in various fields, providing guidance and support as they navigate their educational journey and prepare for future careers. Through one-on-one mentorship and group workshops, students can gain valuable insights into potential career paths and develop the skills necessary to succeed in their chosen fields.
In addition to our work in Ethiopia, we also offer after-school programs and networking opportunities for youth in the Twin Cities area. Our goal is to improve academic outcomes, help young people explore career options, enroll
